For over twenty- five years, Alan Preis has served as chairman of the North Jersey Alumni Representative Committee whose members perform the alumni interviews for over 700 high school applicants from this area each year to the College and the School of Engineering. Alan also was President of the Club from 1999 to 2003, prior to which he served as Treasurer and then Vice President. Columbia awarded him an Alumni Medal in 1996 for his conspicuous service to the university. 

Alan is a CPA’s CPA who specializes in Federal and State tax law with an emphasis on New Jersey taxation. In addition to serving clients, he lectures extensively at CPA Continuing Education functions and other tax related events. Alan operates his own tax practice in Florham Park having previously been a tax partner at both Deloitte and the predecessor firm Touche Ross. 

Alan has been married to Sue for 42 years and lives in East Hanover. Their son, Michael is an executive in a wine importing business and lives in New York City. 

When he can make the time, Alan is an avid deep-sea fisherman.
